JAL to add 2nd daily flight between Tokyo Narita and Jakarta from June 13 2014

Japan Airlines (JAL) announced it will be adding a second daily flight between Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Jakarta (CGK) from June 13 2014. The new flight will depart NRT in the evening, as opposed to the existing morning departure. JAL will be deploying the JAL SKY SUITE 767 (SS6) with JAL SKY SUITE II and JAL SKY WIDER seats on the newly added flights. Below are the NRT-CGK schedule from June 13 2014.

JL725 NRT 10:50 - CGK 16:35 SS7 Daily
JL729 NRT 18:55 - CGK 01:00+1 SS6 Daily

JL726 CGK 21:55 - NRT 07:25+1 SS7 Daily
JL720 CGK 06:30 - NRT 16:00 SS6 Daily

This is good news for passengers connecting from North America as they would no longer require to stay overnight at Tokyo to make their connection. The early and evening arrival at Narita would also allow passengers to connect to both US East Coast and West Coast flights. However, if you want First Class service, JL725 and JL726 remain as your only choice.

After this addition, both Japanese carriers have 2 daily flights between Tokyo and Jakarta although All Nippon Airways' (ANA) morning departure flight was from Tokyo Haneda (HND) instead. So the new evening departure flight will go head to head against ANA's offering as they both have very similar departure times.
