As reported earlier, Qatar Airways (QR) will be joining oneworld on October 30 2013. oneworld will once again run an alliance wide double mileage campaign to celebrate the addition of Qatar to the alliance.
JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members flying with eligible fares will be able to earn double miles on QR coded flights operated by Qatar. Flights departing between November 15 and December 19 2013, and January 6 and January 31 2014 are eligible. As usual, these bonus miles are not counted towards your FLY ON Point calculation. Similarly, Qatar Privilege Club members will be able to earn double miles on other oneworld alliance partners' flights.
Also, oneworld will start offering oneworld Visit Middle East Pass from November 1 2013. It covers all of Qatar's and Royal Jordanian's flights within the Gulf, Levant and Egypt, and flights operated by British Airways and Cathay Pacific Airways within the region. This must be purchased in conjunction with an international flight to the region with any oneworld member airline. You can purchase tickets from 3 sectors up to a maximum of 10 sectors in the region. Both Economy and Business class tickets are available and prices are based on class of service and length of each flight. The cheapest sector excluding taxes and fees is USD 75.
