According to Japan Airlines' (JAL) mid term management plan, JAL is planning to refurbish some of its lounges in Japan and overseas. They have just announced the list of lounges they plan to refurbish during the current fiscal year. Also due to lounge congestion at Tokyo Narita (NRT) during the busy morning departure hours, JAL will also be opening a brand new JAL First Class Lounge and Sakura Lounge at terminal 2 for international passengers.

Opening Date: September 29 2012 (Sat)
Opening Hours: 7:30 - 12:30
Location: 4th Floor of Terminal 2 Main Building
Capacity: 154 for JAL First Class Lounge and 63 for Sakura Lounge
As you can see from the pictures, it looks like the design will be quite similar to the current JAL First Class Lounges at NRT. The sad part about the new lounges is once again it is only open in the morning, just like the First Class Lounge at the satellite building. So I guess they really don't need the extra capacity in the afternoon? This means most likely I won't be able to check out these new lounges myself.
Refurbishment of Other Lounges
JAL will refurbishment of quite a few of their lounges in Japan and overseas during the current fiscal year ending March 2013. The first lounge to be refurbished is the one at Osaka Kansai (KIX). Work will begin in September and scheduled to be completed in December. JAL plans to replace the furnitures and carpets, and to upgrade the facilities.
Other lounges scheduled to be refurbished during the current fiscal year are:
International Lounges
Tokyo Narita (NRT)*, Fukuoka (FUK), Honolulu (HNL), Frankfurt (FRA), Manila (MNL)
*Including the existing lounges
Domestic Lounges
