More RAC routes will be eligible for mileage accumulation and award redemption

Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced a JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) service improvement that will expand the number of Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) routes that are eligible for mileage accumulation and award redemption from July 1 2012.


Currently the only RAC routes eligible for mileage accumulation and award redemption are Okinawa Naha-Kumejima/Miyako/Yonaguni and Ishigaki-Miyako/Yonaguni.

From July 18 2012 (on board basis), all RAC routes will be eligible for mileage accumulation. However, Minamidaito-Kitadaito sector connecting to/from Okinawa Naha within the same day is not eligible. For if you fly on Minamidaito-Kitadaito-Okinawa Naha on a single ticket within the same day, you will only earn miles on the Kitadaito-Okinawa sector. Similarly, only miles on for Minamidaito-Okinawa on Kitadaito-Minamidaito-Okinawa under the same conditions.
Below are the sector miles for the added flights Okinawa Naha - Amamioshima 195 miles Okinawa Naha - Yoron 73 miles Okinawa Naha - Kitadaito 223 miles Okinawa Naha - Minamidaito 223 miles Miyako - Tarama 40 miles Minamidaito - Kitadaito 8 miles
On the other hand, award travel will starts on September 1 2012. And redemption for domestic awards start at 9:30 JST on July 1 2012 for the general public. All added flights belongs to Zone A which has the following redemption rates Zone A Normal Roundtrip Award 12,000 miles Normal One-way Award 9,000 miles Normal Roundtrip Award for JAL Card holders 11,000 miles Normal One-way Award for JAL Card holders 8,500 miles Discounted Roundtrip Award 10,000 miles Discounted One-way Award 7,500 miles
