JAL 787 has gone tech already on April 25 2012

As you all know, Japan Airlines received their first two Boeing 787s (JA825J and JA822J) about a month ago and JAL has just launched the new Tokyo Narita (NRT) - Boston (BOS) route on April 22. But the launch isn't as smooth as expected. JAL has to delay JL007 (BOS-NRT) on April 25 for 24 hours due to aircraft maintenance issues.

2012 Award Ticket Priority Flight Operations

A while back Japan Airlines (JAL) announced the award ticket priority flight operations. As long as there is a economy class seat for sale, award redemptions will be available on these flights. Today JAL has announced the priority flights for travel between July and September 2012.

Japan Airlines (JAL) is one of the official partners of the new Tokyo Sky Tree, the tallest tower in the world. To celebrate the scheduled opening of Tokyo Sky Tree on May 22 2012, JAL will paint a Boeing 777-200 (JA8978) with a special JAL x Tokyo Sky Tree Livery.

Japan Airlines (JAL) is set to receive 2 more 787 deliveries in the very near future. As a result, JAL is able to confirm the 787 service commencement dates for Delhi, Beijing and Moscow routes.

JAL first 787 flight to Boston took off!

Japan Airlines (JAL) inaugural 787 flight to Boston finally took off at 11:46 JST today. The inaugural flight, JL008, is operated with JA822J, the 2nd 787 JAL received, and is completely sold out. The current estimated arrival time is 11:33 EDT, 13 minutes behind schedule but is still considered as on-time according industry standard.

JAL discusses more possible 787 destinations

Yesterday, Japan Airlines (JAL) President Yoshiharu Ueki discussed about the possibilities of adding new destinations in Myanmar, China and Indonesia. Today, the vice-president of network planning, Kiyoto Morioka, discussed more 787 possible destinations which include flights to fellow oneworld partner hubs in Europe.

JAL will be using the BA lounges at Boston

Japan Airlines (JAL) has uploaded the airport information page for Boston ahead of the launch of the Tokyo Narita - Boston route. And as expected, JAL won't be operating its own lounges at BOS, instead they will be using the British Airways First Lounge and British Airways Terraces lounge.

Finally! Japan Airlines (JAL) has uploaded its official 787-8 seat map to its website. The long-haul configuration of the 787 is called E01.

JAL President hints possible international expansion destinations

Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced its mid-term management plan a while back which targets a 25% capacity increase in its international network by utilizing the state-of-art mid-sized 787s. But they haven't specifically mentioned any new destinations. Today 47news quotes JAL President Yoshiharu Ueki and said JAL intends to open routes to new destinations every year.

Japan Airlines (JAL) currently operates 2 First Class and Sakura Lounges at Tokyo Narita Terminal 2 for international flights. During the morning rush hours, these lounges are sometimes really crowded. Therefore, JAL has decided utilize the American Airlines' (AA) Admirals Club and open a 3rd lounge called JAL LOUNGE with American Airlines during the morning from April 22 2012 (yea expect more passengers when the new 787 Boston flight starts right? :)).
