According to Yomiuri Online, Japan Airlines (JAL) will discontinue the birthday discount tickets on its domestic flights.
The current discount was first rolled out in April. Passengers who fly within 7 days of their birthday can buy tickets at up to 74% off. The promotion will end on September 30 2010 as planned.
ANA has been whining about this promotion and complained this is distorting fair competition using public fund. With the suspension of shareholder discount and birthday discount on JAL flights coming, ANA has raised its ticket prices in October (booo). Passengers have to pay more as a result...so this is better for the general public right, ANA?
