Japan Airlines is currently conducting a trial to see how much fuel they can save by closing windows on the sunny side of the plane. This can help reduce the inflight temperature and therefore reducing the A/C power.
According to JAL's Japanese site, looks like there are two different trials going on. One of them is specific to the Eco-Jet (the one with green tail). And another one applies to flights arrived at night and leave in the next morning at Haneda, Kansai, Itami, Fukuoka, New Chitose, Okinawa, and Kagoshima airports. For details of the trail, you can refer to JAL website (Japanese only)
